You know Marty, the guy who led the 2006 Chargers to a 14-2 record, and came within six points of a possible perfect record. It's enough to make you scratch your head and say "hmm..."<br /><br />The knock on Schottenheimer is that he has never gotten to a Super Bowl. Such is life. Has that been Schottenheimer's fault, or more of a result of the teams he's had? Perhaps it's a mixture of both. But more often than not, you can point the blame at the team.<br /><br />Marty Schottenheimer is currently the sixth-most winningest head coach in the history of the NFL. He's only four wins away from entering the top five. That's lofty territory.<br /><br />This firing was a surprise - especially considering that last month, the team told him they would not be firing him. What does this mean? I think it means three things.<br /><br />1. Never bet on anything a team official tells you.<br /><br />2. Marty Schottenheimer will be highly sought after everytime an NFL head coaching job is available.<br /><br />3.
